Hello,

I am looking for all the cushion sizes for a Hunter 35.5, 1990.
We have a 26 Hunter, and we are restoring a 35.5 1990 that took a beating in Sandy. Because of the poor weather in New Jersey, we are still awaiting delivery of the sailboat to Georgia. It keeps being delayed with every storm they have.
I woulds love to start making the cushions, and am eager to do so.
Does anyone know where I can get the measurements, or does any have them.
Thank you so much for your help. I enjoy this forum tremendously.

Funny you should ask, my brand new set is right behind me. The 2 main cushions are 50 inches along the back, 19 inches wide, and 45 inches along the front.
Are you planning on making the 3 rear ones too ? I leave out the rear centre fibreglass section all the time.
I went with navy and white piping. The cushions have some kind of grippy back panels to prevent slide. My old ones just had 2 snaps on the back an inch above the cushion.

Tammi:

Before you decide to take this on, you may want to check out US Yacht Cushions (St Petersburg FL). They made many of the interiors for the Hunters of that era. They have thousands of fabrics and most of the patterns at very reasonable prices. We had them do the Salon/Saloon on our H31 and it looked much better than the original. I have no idea where the prices are now but it is worth talking to them first.

If you decide to take this on yourself you want to be sure that you do not use any metal zippers and any area that comes in contact with fiberglass/gelcoat has vinyl (not cloth material).

It is also worth looking into different cushioning materials for sleeping quarters (something like memory foam or latex). The fabrics should not contain cotton. You may also want to check out the fabric abrasion resistance.

The tabs that Stretch is referring to are usually velcro patches that attach to the hook/loop tabs that are secured into the plywood on the settees.

Steve,
Thank you so much for your response.
I will contact them for the patterns, and fabric. I have been experimenting with sewing invisible zippers into some throw pillows and cushions for other projects. I am very glad you brought the medal zipper to my attention.
I am determined to do the work myself, for the satisfaction of knowing I created it. If you have any other tips like the zipper they are greatly appreciated.
Thanks again,
Tammy

Hi Tammy, here is a shot of the cushion back, grippy rubber material. I had all 5 made for 1200 cdn. The other shot is the rear lazerette cushion, 14 wide at the narrowest, 22 long at the back, and 17 long on the front to the start of the radius turn.

The cushion material is expensive, as is the curved 5th section.
