Peggy,This past weekend I finally pulled out my holding tank and hoses to find the problem I have been having with regards to my head "hard" pumping. I did not put in the holding tank, which is about 4 years old on a '79 Hunter 30', so I thought the inflow line might be at the bottom of the tank instead of the top. I had previously checked the the small vent hose to make sure that was clear.I did find the "Y" diverter valve was hooked up backwards, and the inlet flow was connected to the overboard seacock (which I had replaced when the boat was on the hard because the original was a rusty gate-type valve-did I do this or the yard). I removed and re-attached the 1.5" lines (good reason to keep a hair dryer on board), and now the head pumps very easy. I see the flow going into the holding tank with every stroke in the dry-pump setting. I think I finally have it correct.Now- here is the question. I have removed the diverter handle and the seacock handle. Is this sufficient for Coast Guard regs and the local marine police? I sail in the middle Cheasapeake Bay area. Should I put them back on and figure out how to lock (with a lock)in a closed position. Many thanksIan
