That would be my guess, to slow down critters from climbing up the lines. That said, in 40 years of hanging around boats and boat yards, I've never heard of mice getting into boats during the winter. To prevent mice from climbing up?

Those look more like rats than mice...To prevent mice from climbing up?
I ordered some of these packets and wow are they potent! I have no doubt that they will work. However, I'm still keeping my canvas outside of my outdoor storage unitI've had mice in both my sailboat and powerboat over the winter . Even mice can do a fair amount of damage in a very short time.
They've destroyed our bimini ,dodger and some cushions
A cheaper alternative to antifreeze is windshield washer fluidBTW if i want to be critical - I never liked a cover that had lines that rubbed on the boot stripe. It can cause damage. Suggest some foam noodles to protect the gelcoat and boot stripe. Some prefer to hang water bottles for the weight.
That's very unusual. I know of insurance companies that require your boat to bs stored on a cradle or you must take down your mast to store on stands....(and no cradles are allowed…no place to store them I guess).
I think it is because they store boats in the marina parking lots over the winter, and they don’t room to store a bunch of cradles when the marina is in use during the summer. I was told thus year that I cannot even bring my one stands…have to use theirs (they charge a rental fee for them). That came up when I asked them to change this one out…That's very unusual.
