Crusing Spinnaker

Two questions:1. Has anyone ever bought one of the "Flasher / Stasher" cruising spinnakers mentioned in Hunter's web site store? Seems interesting and simple to deploy and take in. 2. I see the store also has 150 genoas for the 240. Anyone tried a 150 on their 240?

Cruising Chute

Last year purchased a cruising chute from cruising direct. I had checked with local sailmakers on prices for the chute as well as the chute with a snuffer. I elected to go with cruising direct. The chute was a little smaller than what the sailmakers came up with based on the boats measurements. But knowing how quickly the 240 gets overpowered I didn't think it would be a problem. I decided against the sock. My boat is equiped with a CDI furler so I used the jib halyard as a spiniker halyard. I had to relocate the turning block on the mast above the forstay. Not a big deal. I fly it alot. I've even flown it several times while alone. It came in handy at the end of last season when I sailed my boat from Norfolk Va to D.C. It took 4 days. Great trip. I couldn't imagine using a 150 on this boat. I sail on the bay and reef more often than I get stuck drifting. With the blocks not on a genoa track I cant imagine the sheeting angles would allow you to sail to wheather very effectively.

HOW Spinnaker

We bought a Flasher with Stasher from HOW last year for our 340 it was delivered on time looks great and works even better than we thought it would. We traded the 340 in for a 380 and just orderd one for the 380 from HOW. Andy HansomS/V Vanishing Point

I bought a cruising spinnaker for my H26 from HOW last year and it has worked out well. It was the Flasher with Stasher - the name given to the sail and launcher which is made by UK Sails. The price was at a 10% discount and the Stasher was included in the price. Would recommend that you get the Stasher - it makes the job of getting sail up and back down much easier. Most people , including Hunter, do not recommend using a larger genoa with the Hunter 26, so I would guess it is the same for the 240.I think you will find the cruising spinnader a welcome addition in light air.

150 on H-23

My 87 H-23 came to me in 1996 with a never-been-used 150% genoa. I know it had not been used because the boat did not have the necessary turning blocks. When I finally put in the blocks I began to put on the speed. I have raced this boat with full main and the 150 in 20kts of wind. It was a little hairy, but we were racing. I have been looking at buying a cruising chute of some kind, the HOW store sounds like agood place. I have been pleased with my 150's performance, I just need to learn when to drop back to the 110, I get hooked on the speed real quick.Keith and Wandaaboard Gwaihir
