Any experience with drilling and filling with epoxy in the specific area that the shrouds pass through the deck ? I have worked on this area and found a metal plate running below the fiberglass. Because of the plate I was not able to come up with the same quieting results after drilling and filling with epoxy. Thanks, 1983 H-30...

deck fix

take your circular saw, set it to a depth of 1/2 in. saw the area that you think the plate is in. take out the plate, and any plywood that is rotten. when dry, recut some a-b fir exterior plywood to fit, coat w/ system three epoxy, then make some epox paste. dab all liberally. glue top skin back on. make a generous bevel at the cut seam

Deck Fix

Thanks John T, I began to think no-one was going to respond. Went to the boat this last weekend and walked the deck with out the slightest crunch sound. Perhaps the epoxy had not setup when I thought the problem was still present. By the way, when I drilled the wood -chips were clean and dry. I did hit an area around the shrouds that a metal plate had been sandwiched , wondered if anyone had any insight. Thanks, Rick..
