I am planning a trip next fall from KY Lake to Mobile via Tenn-Tom, then along north Florida coast to west coast and keys. I would like specific information on bridge heights along the northern GICW. My H356 has a mast clearance height of 58 feet plus to clear VHS antenna. What sections can be done inside the ICW between Mobile and Appalachicola? Jerry Clark sv Persistence

This might help.

Well, darn!!!....

After I sent the post, I went back to check the link and it looks like it only goes up to the Central West Coast of Florida. Sorry, I thought it was just what you need.*sry

Mostly outside

You should be able to go from Mobile to Pensacola in the ICW. That's all!!!!! You'll have to go outside from Pensacola on. The bridge at Navarre is 50'. The bridge at Fort Walton Beach is 50'. The bridge from West Bay at Panama City is 50'. The bridge at Tindall AFB in Panama City is 50'. There are, however, good places to stop at good intervals to do outside as daysails. Get the October 2003 issue of Cruising World and read the Cola to Cola story. I am planning a trip beginning in August, down the Verdigris/Arkansas/Mississippi to get to the same areas where you are going. My mast is short enough to go inside, but I plan to go outside because my wife thinks the "ditch" is too boring.

Thanks Larry

Thanks for the information. I thought I would have to go outside - it should be more fun anyway. Can you get to marinas at Pensacola, Destin, Panama City from the cuts without bridge interference at 58 feet?
