Cruising/live aboard

Hi all,

For many years we've thought about cruising full time and with a lot of help from SBO contributors we've been able to realize this dream. You can't beat waking in some of the prettiest spots along our coast (Roger is right). Lately we've been meeting cruisers and other forumites, spending time with them. There was the boat from Maine,Colin and Ann on the Mimi Rose, and Tom and Vonice from Iowa. We also met a couple from Norway that have crossed the Atlantic. We filled our days with many stories and plenty of laughs. Sailing is pretty much universal.

Besides that, I've been called Hon or Sugar so often and I have lost count on the number of times my Little Heart has been blessed. :dance: Glad we're on the water.

Where have you gone? How far south, have you made a jump to the islands?

While cruising we've learned how to juggle those items we needed to continue our trip (like those seen spinning plates). Family, fuel, food, water, and pump-out head our list of concerns when we are looking for the next harbor. Throw those plates in the mix with navigation, weather, repairs, and finances (the boating componant) and it can get a little uncomfortable or overwhelming at times. We had the advantage of being in a group that would jump in and juggle one or two plates while we took a breath.

Once you're through it and look back, it's not that bad. As we neared Charleston a family issue caused us to choose stopping here for the winter and we are not disappointed. We're now in the live aboard/maintenance mode having time to relax but always having a project each day. I'm nearly done servicing winches and will probably be going up the mast to fix the tri-color that didn't duck when I yelled "Duck". My wife is sewing some hatch covers for our friend that we've traveled with since leaving Maine in September. Need I say she keeps us in stitches? As we near March the pre-trip list will grow I'm sure.

Our blog is http://saildalmatian.blogspot.com/ and currently isn't accepting our pictures so we haven't updated lately. Our journey on the water is similar to others and so has been our journey through life. I read other blogs and nod my head "Yep, there it is". We even kept track of other boats by writing their name as we passed along the way thinking we might see them again. I'm sure some we will on our return.
