I'd like to find a good cruising guide for Florida (East, West Coasts and Keys). Does anyone have a recommendation. I'd like info on anchorages, marinas, restaurants, points of interest etc... Thanks

DON'T Buy This One

The Cruising Guide to the Fl Keys, by "Captain Frank Papy" is one to avoid like the plague. It's filled with misinformation and worthless suggestions like "if your draft isn't too deep, you can get your boat in there". I'm not kidding. You can't make this stuff up. Robert Pancza

I picked up Claiborne Young's "Cruising Guide to Western Florida," and it has exactly what you're looking for. The "Western Florida" guide is 480 pages, and pretty all-inclusive. There's 88 pages just concerning Tampa Bay, for example. The only thing it lacks (in my opinion) is chart overviews for the areas he's talking about, although he mentions the NOAA charts frequently. If you have the charts, sitting at the kitchen table and cross-referencing his account with the charts is extremely helpful. He mentions marinas (with facility overviews), local items of interest, places to anchor out (with local laws where appropriate), and notable dining facilities within walking distance of marinas. There's another one for Eastern Florida, of course. Maybe a bit pricy, but worth the value, at least to me.
