I live in one of the most beautiful cruising areas in the world, British Columbia. We have within a 2 day sail snow capped mountains, waterfalls, numerous fiord's and quiet protected anchorages. I do however yearn to sail destinations like the Florida Keys and the Bahama's. I post this to generate discussion on how this might work and what safeguards would be put in place. I would only consider such an exchange if I could be assured that I was exchanging with a knowledgeable sailor who would take the same care of my boat as he would his own. I have a 92- Hunter 35.5 which is an ideal coastal cruiser for a couple. I am somewhat E-challenged but when I get it figured out I will post some pictures.

Don: In principle I would be willing to exchange time on my J/32 berthed in San Diego. SD is a beautiful and interesting town, but the cruisng options are limited. You can sail from one end to the other end of SD bay and back in one half day. Otherwise you can sail out into the Pacific as far as you want and then back again. Winds are moderate and the weather is generally good year round. But there aren't any easy, 25 mile away cruising destinations. But as a place to stay, sail for the afternoon and see the sights around SD- World class zoo, Seaworld, La Jolla, Tijuana; it's an interesting place. Email me directly at jdmarchand@earthlink.net if you are interested. David Marchand
