Cruising 'chute tack attachment

Right now I attach the tack line of the A sail cruising spinnaker through the anchor roller. This is not the best way since the line will wear on the roller sheave cheeks. Any better ideas out there? Thanks, PAC

Thru block

Our roller has a steel strap over the sheave. I use a shackle block on the strap.

Snap Shackle And The Ring Over The Roller

I use a single stainless Steel block with a snap shackle on the tack and the sheet. The shackle is attached to the ring over the anchor roller. Then the tack line is cleated to either side od the bow cleat. You need to have some adjustment if you are racing. The other is attached to the last toe rail hole back at the cockpit. Now you can use your winch to control your sheet. Again, we set ours up this way because we race our 1993 H30T. Our fleet is a Spinnaker Fleet.

Run the tack line to the cockpit

I attached a block to the anchor roller, installed a cam cleat on the aft edge of the cabin top and run the tack line all the way to the cockpit. This gives you both control lines (sheet and tack line) at the cockpit. Both need constant adjustment to keep the sail properly trimmed. My turning blocks are far enough aft that using a snatch block on the rail provides no advantage, so I just use the regular jib blocks and winches. When I'm singlehanding, I trim the sail and leave it, keeping it trimmed by adjusting the helm. When the Admiral is aboard, she takes the helm, and I constantly trim the sail for maximum speed.
