Nice N Easy

Sorry for not keeping up better with all of you, but Sprint pulled the plug on my cell phone/internet hookup Nov. 1. So it has been kind of hard to get acess. We are now in Indiancity, Fla. Just east of Lake Okeechobee. Marina here even has wireless internet, and is a buck a foot. Monday we are going to give the tilt with barrels a try, to get under the one low bridge. Had planned on doing it tomorrow, but seems the guy doesn't work on Sundays, unless arranged for in advance, and didn't have a number for him earlier. One I had was wrong. All is going well, and it is finally warm. ( AT LAST ) I had on just a T shirt today, for the first time since we left NJ. Temp. supposed to be in the low 80's rest of the week. Really like this part of Florida. It is kind of hard to get used to seeing Christmas decorations wrapped around palm trees though. Should be out of the Okeechobee Waterway and in the Gulf in three more days, if the bridge goes smoothly. Think from there we will hug the coast, and head for Pennsacola. With some decent weather and good luck, we should be home in a couple of weeks, give or take a day or so.

Barrel thing

Am am also interested in if you make it under the bridge. I am hoping to one day leave Chicago via the river system and cross Florida ending up on the East coast of Florida one day.

I did the railroad bridge

I purchased my H30 on the west coast and moved her to the east coast thru the Okee waterway. My mast is 50' plus intruments and antenna at just under 52'. I figured if some 'ole boys with a pickup and some barrels could do it so could I. We heeled the boat with myself and a friend hanging out on the boom and his dad at the wheel with my son on lookout. We heeled about 12 degrees and just brushed the antenna. Bridge clearance was 49 and 3/4 that day. If your much higher you are going to have to heel more. On a note we practiced in the middle of the lake to see how far we could get her to heel. I wasn't sure they were going to allow it as coming from the west it was just past the lock, but they said go ahead. Have fun, Bob
