Dear ladies and gents, where are you finding the best source for custom sailing clothing? Speciifically I want to purchase a dozen T-shirts. They would be simple with a sailboat over the breast pocket with "Ladylove Crew" underneath. Years ago I did sweatshirts but do not remember from where. Our own SBO store has them but without the graphics. Google searching has been unproductive. Thanks for your help.

There is a small family owned embroidering business in Catalina that does great work at good prices. He has a large variety of nautical graphics that he uses. He will also digitize picture of your boat and embroider it for you on just about anything. Quality of clothing that he offers is not too bad either. I have his card at home and will post later, although if you google embroidery and Catalina, Ca., I'm sure it will pop up

PS: We had our hats and jackets done there last year and were very happy with results.

Wow, what great response.

Phil, have you been watching the market? I am definitely a T-shirt kind of guy this Christmas. It will be a long time before I spend $30. on a shirt again. :)

If I can afford them from SBO I will definitely do that. Looks like most of the suggested sites get around $20. for T-shirts.

Isn't silk screening a cheap way out? And does SBO do that?

Or should I go to Wal-Mart for Hanes plain T's and do my own embroidery?

At the expense of having the entire SBO crew chime in here, figured I'd give my 2 cents since I manage the items in the SailboatOwners.com stores.

Phil did not realize that we do now have T-shirts which are custom embroidered with a boat name. They are regularly $24.95 but right now are on sale for $19.95. Near as I can tell, that is pretty competitive pricing, on or off sale. We can also add a simple boat design for a couple bucks more.

That said, embroidery on T-shirts can be tricky due to the weight of the cloth...the embroidery can gather the fabric and can make the fabric pucker. This is why we only use a quality, heavy weight shirt and keep the custom embroidery to a minimum i.e. boat name only. But, we certainly can add a simple design to the shirt as well - just send us an email or give us a call.

Regarding your question about silk screening Ed, this can be the preferred means of customizing a T-shirt. Silk screening, however, is typically only cost effective for larger print runs since you have the cost of making the screen and the price goes up with each color added. I'm sure if you search around though, you could find a shop that will do small silk screen runs.

Bly?! Now there is a name. . . .

that I have not seen in awhile. I get it, hiding out during this conversion. Can't blame you for that.

I'll get back to you on the shirts. I will definitely do something here on SBO or HOW or whatever we call it. I really like the Polo shirts. So what if they foreclose on my condo. I can always move to the boat.

I had a friend do it for $150. That was 12 Ts and 12 hats with custom logos and boat name. I gave 2 Ts and 2 hats to each crew member. Let me know if you want his email address.

The baseball hats (good quality) had a circle with "Regatta De Amigos" on the top and 2008 on the bottom half. Inside the circle was a sailboat sailing with a spin up. Below the logo was the boat name.

The Ts had the same logo on the left breast. I forget what the back of the T had but it was big letters and big logo to basically take up the whole back.

Now he said he gave me a deal because he was a friend so I don't know what he would charge outsiders, but I can say I was happy with the quality. I wear the hats everyday and shirts often.

I plan on getting my crew for the "Race To The Border" next June the same thing.
