@Jalepeno ; Although the medical folks have this down to a science now, only those of us know what we have gone thru. The first two weeks are the toughest and I thank God I had my wife to take care of me and hopefully likewise with you to. I pray that you get better quickly. The coughing hurts like you said and I use my Cough Buddy Bear. Not sure if the hospital charges for that but probably so here in the states. Doing nothing is not my cup of tea causing sheer boredom even after watching TV. We live on a mountain top with beautiful views and will ask
@Kermit to post some of them. Friends and family have been instrumental doing chores here as well for which I am ever grateful. REMEMBER NOT TO PUSH OR PULL WITH YOUR ARMS OR LIFT ANY HEAVY OBJECTS UNTIL YOUR PHYSICIAN SAYS SO. I have a few complications but that in time will be taken care of. Sadly no grog or ale for me at this time.
To Everyone;
I want to thank all of you for all the cards, emails and mostly prayers paticuarly Kermit who has been in constant touch as to my progress.
Surgery is no new rodeo for me as I have been through so much in my life. In the past several years I started experiencing shortness of breath becoming winded and tired. Over two years ago transiting from one end of the terminal to the other to connect with another flight, I felt slight chest pain and rested only to catch that connecting flight with a few seconds to spare. The following week, I was nearly finishing modeling the entire basement when I became flushed perspiring profusely as well as becoming weak. I stopped and immediately called the doctor. He called back immediately advising go to the hospital. They found one artery 90% blocked and a stint was put in. Felt good afterwards but over the next two years, I gradually became short winded and finally to a point I could work only 5 minutes and then had to rest. Went to see the cardiologist who did a nuclear stress test but it was in the final few seconds of completing that when an abnomality appeared. He suggested a heart catherization which found several arteries severely blocked which surprised all of us. Due to the severity, I was admitted and surgery completed ending up in a triple heart bypass surgery. The second night I was delirious that I did not know my surroundings. Now it will take time to get back to my old self.
I use to smoke until 25 years ago when I cold turkey on that. It was stated that was a good thing given the above. I am diabetic but watch closely controlled by minimal medication. Now I watch what I will be eating. Goodby desserts and hello to low sodium, low low fat, no sugar and so on. Ugh. Right now no regular coffee but only decaf coffee. Ugh.
The reason why I telling you this is a reminder to listen to your body and do not delay. Like I said, my regular physician and cardiologist were surprised when the verdict was rendered. If you are experiencing chest pain radiating into the left arm, shortness of breath or short winded being tired or so on, PLEASE DO NOT DELAY AND GET IT CHECKED OUT. I am glad I did. Now for the sad news, you still have to put up with me.
