Hunter 23.5 Beaufort, SC
Or anyone that wants to answer.

The side shrouds on my 23.5 has the 'lower' shroud mounted in in the forward position and the 'uppers' in the aft position. I've seen other Hunter water ballast boats with the upper shroud forward and the lower shroud aft. Does it make a difference?

Thanks,

Mike

Discussed From Time to Time

Some of the diagrams in the owners manual are a mix of crossed and not. I think what Dave has said is they are close enough at the hull that it does not matter so long as they are not rubbing and chaffing one another.

Right on Rick

Thanks Rick. With that boat it did not matter but any chafing would require swithcing placement.

Rick; I came back on board with Hunter and I like their new approach. My email is davecondon@mindspring.com

The new Hunter 27 "Edge is going to be awesome in my books.

Rick, please contact me....

Rick:

After years of reading these posts and making a few myself, I was hoping I could ask your opinion and get some advice from our "local expert". I live over in Santa Rosa Beach and have a H260. I noticed the line that leads to the centerboard is starting to go. Anyway, mind emailing me at pottersouth@yahoo.com or calling at 830-4939. Sure would appreciate it!!

Regards,

Bill

Replacing Centerboard Line

If you wait long enough the centerboard line will need to be replaced. Check out Pat Adams' instructions on this repair in the knowledgebase. Lots of pics and detailed instructioins....

H240/260 Shroud Placement

There is discussion on this subject at this link:

http://h260.com/rigging/rigging.html

As noted by our H260 Guru Crazy Dave, it probably does not make a difference as long as the shrouds are not rubbing against each other.

one additional step

I would like to add one step to the great instructions that Pat posted. I read it in the archives. Buy a 12" long threaded rod that will thread into the centerboard bracket. You can get one at any home improvement store. Thread the rod into the bolt hole just before you go to reinstall the centerboard assembly. Putting the rod through the hole in the hull helps to align the bracket with the hole. Once the bracket is up in place, your helper just removes the rod while you keep pressure on the entire assembly from the underside. The hole is perfectly aligned and there is no issue with having to waste time trying to align the hole for your assistant to get the bolt in. Run a little bead of 5200 around the underside of the bolt head and tighten that baby down.

Good luck

George,

I was looking at your temporary rudder I had a thought. The rudder would make an excellent fender board and will help make the space it takes up a little more worth while.
