Some call it a rub rail...anyone who has seen me slip my boat knows why I refer to it as a crash rail.
I digress.
I recently recently reinstalled my rub rail with new rubber, and applied 4200 to all of the screws. I also caulked in along the top of the aluminum rail to help keep rain out. I left the bottom of the aluminum bare, thinking that it would best be left open to let water out. My question is, should I seal it to keep splash water from getting in under the rail? I worry that I might get some water infiltration...is my worry valid?
Thanks for your advice.
