crank starting 83 hunter 31

how do you crank start a 1983 hunter 31.I tried but was unsuccessful. First Iremoved the small cover ,second we attached the handle and small thru bolt and then cranked counter clockwise, however the compression was too much . thanks chris kichinka

Break a leg, arm, hand.

Be careful. This is a good way to break your body. Other than that (if you must) push the two compression levers on the top of the engine aft. This will release the compression. This works well if the battery is low too. Just release the compression levers, crank the starter and release the levers when the engine is spinning freely.
