Could someone tell me where on my 1989 37 HunterI should put the slings when lifting the boat out.

bulkheads

Look inside for the bulkheads, that's the safest place to lift on the hull.JJc

Our boat has a "Sling" label mounted just...

beneath the toe rail port and starboard. Your boat should have the same as ours. If you hang over the side you should be able to see it. Normally they place them about a foot in front of the keel (or compression post) and about a foot in front of where the prop shaft enters the hull. Terry

I agree

The hull will flex and indent if strapped between stringers. Same goes for the support struts when on the hard.

Just a follow-up point...

The total weight of our boat while on the hard rests on the keel. The jack stands are used to help keep the boat stable during this time. The travel lifts straps need to be placed where the toe rail label indicates so as to not damage the knot meter transducer impeller towards the bow or the prop shaft or strut towards the stern. Went to move...

my 35.5 and found it had no sling marks. Looked at pictures from her survey when I bought her, and then extrapolated that the straps needed to be under the pan that the diesel sits in and just aft of the keel, and then the forward strap fits under forward bulkhead between the v-birth and the main cabin.

when you are out of the water

When you are out of the water, take a small piece of tape or paint and mark the position of the sling for future reference.

For all you sailors with H34s

I've had my boat since new in '86. At haul-out time I trusted the yard to position the straps but still fretted. My buddies sister ship has 'sling' labels. Must have been owner placed because mine never had them. This year at haul out I had a epiphany. The slings were perfectly place when lined-up with the forward and rear cabin ports! Who needs a label? *5

Mark

I checked the sling mark location on my boat (35.5)tonite. They are three holes (toerail)forward of the lifeline gate stanchion at the rear and three holes forward of the stanchion that lines up with the mast. Thought you might be interested and mark the location.
