I have a friend who is looking at a boat just like mine, a 1984 C-22. He looked the boat over and found some gelcoat patches on the inside of the boat (in the cabin) near the hull to deck joint. He went back outside the boat thinking that they were holes or something but there was no evidence of anything on the exterior????? The owner said they were stress cracks or something(he didn't know) and had filled some of them. Does this sound familiar to anyone out there? I thought that perhaps the compression post was failing under the mast step causing the hull to flex under load. It's a mystery. Thanks Art <)))><

Cracks

You've got to remember that the interior is just a liner, which does provide *some* structural support but isn't integral. I have a few very small cracks around the edges of the liner in my boat, mostly where stress would be the most. If they're small & aren't very many, I can't imagine it being a problem. Probably just says that someone really loved to sail the boat, and probably sailed it hard. LaDonna

Are they really cracks

On my c-22 I have noticed a hull to deck adhesive material tha looks like Urethane foam you would use on the house. Upon closer inspection, it is hard and looks like some "squish" adhesive from bonding the Hull/deck joint. Your situation may be different, but my initial observation was similar to yours.
