Deep cracks
They are not surface scratches but cracks that appear to be at least 3/4 inches deep (so far). I have one each side of the boat, same location on each side, above the rear window.

170 Crack
I have a crack in the deck of my 170 running from near the forward cleat back 3.5 feet. I was told by Hunter that it was not "structural" in that the boat would not break in half and the mast would not come crashing down on me. My 170 cannot be too much older than your 212 since they are new designs. It is possible that my crack developed from winter ice last winter, but I strongly doubt it. I caulked it and so far it has not grown, last I checked. I will do a thorough job of covering the boat this winter.
