Hunter 23.5 Trailer
My Hunter 23.5 is now 20 years old. This summer, she had more use and more sun exposure than ever. There are now about 10 places where numerous 'spider' cracks have formed.
With winter coming here in Michigan, do i need to somehow seal or coat these to prevent further damage from freezing temps? Or, since they are so tiny, I don't have to worry about it?
Or, is my solution to just have it shrink-wrapped instead of a tarp loosely tied to on her to make sure no water gets into those thin crack?
Thank you to anyone who can offer help!

I have spider cracks on my 19 yo h40.5. I don't do anything and they don't seem to get any worse. I tend to think they are an inevitable consequence of an aging boat. I do have a full Fairclough cover that covers everything down to the waterline for the winter.

Unless you are prepared for an all out repair, I would suggest simply waxing the areas. As Rich said that is part of age. I was a dealer for that boat.

Dave,
It's not a big deal. It's just getting old and aging as we do, but it's really no biggie. To stay on the safe side, you can get a professional to examine it and see if it's a problem; better safe than sorry. I've had spider cracks for years on most of my sailboats but it was never a problem for me. Spider cracks aren't much of a problem but if they start to get bigger to the point you should be worried and concerned, then try to find solutions or get it repaired ASAPRONTO! Have a good day and hope all is well!
Gene.
