Cracked Spreaders

Hello Everybody! On my '87 H31, the lower spreaders are both cracked about one-fourth of the way through, fairly close to the brackets on the mast. The upper spreaders are OK, thank goodness. (It's actually been like this for quite a while; I was hoping it was an optical illusion or something, but a trip up the mast last week proved otherwise. So I need to get it fixed before the winds start blowing this summer.) Question 1: Should I replace the rest of the standing rigging when I replace the spreaders? (Note that I won't be attempting any DIY heroics.) How much might it cost? Question 2: I'm pretty sure I can get the spreaders and associated hardware from Rig-Rite; it's an Isomat NG-1 system, but I'm not sure if the spreaders are BF-3, BF-4 or BF-5. Any ieas or suggestions? As always, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Rick

...you go replacing anything, I would want to know 'why' they cracked in the first place. I'm sure that RigRite can help you with which part number you need. As for replacing standing rigging. The headstay is the most critical. If its more than ten years old, replace it no question.
