I own a 2001 H340 purchased late season last year. The boat has been in winter storage (stored outside, mast unstepped, and shrink-wrapped). Upon visiting the boat last week I noticed a crack completely through the Corian countertop in the galley. The crack starts at the corner of the forward refrigerator cover and extends to the edge of the counter....about 3-1/2" long. Ends not widely separated and both surfaces are flush. This has not been an unusually cold winter and the boat is soted in a reputable yard. Supported by six jack stands, all appear to be properly placed. Obviously I will bring this to Hunter's attention but I was wondering if anyone else might have had a similar occurance and/or any possible thoughts as to what might have happened. Thanks much in advance for any responses.

Cracked Corian

It is my understanding that a Hunter 460 in the Toronto area had a similar problem. I have not seen it in person. I do not know what they did to resolve it or why it happend. Good luck with Hunter, they're good people. Warren Feldstein

I wouldnt be conserned,Hunter is very responsible and should take care of that guy, there is also a filler that can be put there and sanded out and nobody could ever find it. I have a 450 and have lots of scratches and when the time comes it can be adjusted.Corian is a great product.

Another 460

I also have a new 460 sitting, waiting for the warmer weather. Two weeks ago I visited and found the corner near the companionway ladder had snapped completely off. I thought I was the only one. Obviously there is a problem with cold weather shrinkage. The dealer told me it would be fixed "to my satisfaction" as soon as weather permits. He sent pictures to Hunter. Do not know the reply, but a local Corian fabricator said it could be fixed without a hint that the crack was ever there. Here's hoping!

Corian is very repairable.

If you have ever seen how they splice pieces of corian together it is really cool. I think that they use an adheasive to glue pieces together. Once the stuff dries they use a putty type compound in the crack and buff it. The can make a crack disappear. The think that I would be concerned about is the fact that this may happen in the future after your warranty is gone. What does Corian and Hunter say about future repairs.

Corian

We had a corian countertop in our kitchen ... the base had to be level and the counter had to be supported at the edges. The installation had several seams that were put together using a sealer and holding the 2 pieces together with a vise ... only took a few minutes to dry and you cannot see the seam. I'm more concerned about the counters having proper support and being level than whether the crack can be repaired.
