Went down to the boat (on the hard) this morning. It's been a very long and cold winter here in the north (New Brunswick Canada). Anyway, I notice a crack in the corian countertop at the rear of the sink on my 1994 37.5. I was needless to say, very dismayed. Is there a way to repair or at least disguise this crack? Thanks, Mike

Hi Mike, our boat has Corian counter tops, too...

No cracks here. If one were to appear I would start with the manufacturer for technical advice. I suspect you could acquire the adhesive they use for joints and work some down into the crack from both sides then clamp until set. Our counter tops do have seams in places that must be bonded with some type of adhesive. If it were my boat that is what I would do short of replacing the entire cracked counter with new. Terry

Mike, contact Hunter.

Mike: Contact Hunter. I think that this was a problem on some of the boats for a while. They may have a solution for a fix and can tell you what to do. I know that they can repair Corian, but I am not sure how is is done.

WINDTALKER

CAN BE FIXED

Not a big deal There are two way to fix it. The proper way is to buy a two part cement that is a color match $40.00. uses a special gun to mix properly OR you can use crazy glue. Cement it then sand with fine grit sandpaper after that use scotch-brite using obital sander do complete surface. Home Depot sells solid surface cleaner spray it on wipe it off just like new . PS that is the way the pros do it

corian cracks

Hi, Mike. We had the exact thing happen on our 37.5 a few years ago. I talked to a corian installer and he said to use the very thin super glue to fill the crack and then sand it with fine sandpaper to smooth it. That's what we did. Every year when the boat is on the cradle, the crack is more noticeable, but when it's in the water it fades. Hope this helps. Alice

Dealer did it

We had a crack appear in the corian and since it was still in warranty (just barely) the dealer sent out an expert repairman. He did precisely what the other advisors here say to do: crazy glue and extremely fine sandpaper. But he used wet sanding, at least for the first several sands with ever-finer grit paper, ending with 600 grit. The fix is perfect--can't see the crack at all. It's been 4 years now.
