CRACK, the worst kind

I took my Hunter212 to a dealer to have a furler installed. When I picked the boat up 'someone' had drilled and installed the furler line hardware on the port side. The boat came with the hardware already installed on the starboard side. They removed the hardware and left the little holes in the deck. I pulled the boat home before I discovered what had happen. When I realized what had happen, I further checked the boat and there is a very fine crack above the window on the starboard side approximately 7 inches long. Yes, I am taking it back to the dealer to discuss the small holes in the deck, the forestay being too short and the crack above the window. I would like anyone' input on how they would handle this situation. 1. The forestay is to short, it was made or ordered to short 2. The holes drilled in the deck and left, and no one said anything to me about them. 3. The crack above the window, do you think it is a flaw of the hunter212, a stress crack, or something that was done by the dealer? Also, where can I purchase the compound to fix the crack and seal the holes. What would be the best way to repair the crack. Your help is appreciated. Turp. *yks

Sorry to hear about the bad experience. I would talk to them and tell them what your expectations were and what happened and then ask them to fix both items. We have a remodel business and sometimes things happen that I wasn't aware of, it may be the same case here. If that happens and I have to go take care of it one of the things I ask is what would you like me to do to fix it? They usually have something what they want done and we take care of it. Diplomacy always seems to be the best route. Hope it all works out. Rob Morton

I had hull 13 with the same problem but more extensive. I would like for you to email me first and then we can go from there. I will help you thru the process but diplomacy will get you squared away. If you go another direction, I will back off and will not talk with you. contact hunter and ask for Spooky and tell him you want my email. Or better yet, guys have this fellow get in touch with you and send him my email asap. Let us get him sailing. As for the crack, at the end of it and to keep it from going, take a 1/8 drill bit and put a hole in the end. you need to go only 1/2 inch down to keep the crack from continuing.
