After hauling out for the season today,I noticed a crack on the keel on both sides. It's almost 20 inches above the bulb ,goes horizontaly from back side of the keel to almost half way to front. The boat is '97 Hunter 340 with shoal bulb/wing keel. I wonder if the rods(or struts)goes all the way down to the bulb or less than half way of the keel? If so, re-torque the keel bolts can solve the problem? Or I have a BIGGER PROBLEM? Its urgent and need your advice. Thank you..

crack

I had the same problem on my 2000 340, but worse. The crack ran the entire length of the keel and it moved laterally when pushed. The boat yard put some weight on the keel and re-torqued the bolts. I think they take two or three hundred foot/pounds. Hunter has the specs. The yard then ground out the seam and re-sealed it. No problem since. They also said they could have drilled holes into the keel and put anchor bolts in. This wasn't necessary however. Good luck.
