I have a 2000 Catalina 250 with a Yanmar 1GM10, with a Sail Drive rather than propeller shaft.
Where the Sail Drive comes through the hull, there's a heavy fabric "skirt" (for want of a better term) that covers the gap between the Sail Drive and the hull. This "skirt" isn't a functional seal (that's further up the Sail Drive), but seems to be more of an aesthetic device to cover the gap between Sail Drive and Hull. The "skirt" appears to be attached to the hull by some kind of glue, but over the years the glue seems to have lost its grip and the "skirt" is now pulling away from the hull. Under way, the motion of the water will likely make the situation worse -- and the detached "skirt" will likely slow down the boat.
Any suggestions on how to reattach the "skirt"? Anyone know of a source where I could buy a new one, including whatever glue I might need? Do I even need this "skirt" in the first place?
Thanks very much for any suggestions.
