I have the same problem. I've been looking for a deck plate that will fit into the 2 inch hole so I could get cover off with no tools. I was hoping someone would respond to you with a better idea.
I have the orignal cover on my O'Day 28 and it would take a screw driver to remove. I saw a 28 with a deck plate and it appeared to work. The advantage would be easier to sit on. Good luck
