Anybody have advice on storage covers for the 170? My dealer suggested getting a cheap tarp from the hardware store, but the instructions for the boat say not to use dark materials (and I seem to recall reading that vinyl was a no-no). The folks at Hunter referred me to Masthead, and they do sell deck covers (which by the looks of their website look dark). If that's all I can get, so be it. But I'm really interested in something that can go over the entire boat (mast and all) while the mast is down and fastened for trailering. Intended use is mostly for winter to keep the snow out, but since I don't keep the boat in the water during the summer, a cover while it's on the trailer between uses might be of interest as well. Furthermore, is a cover needed at all during the warm months(protect from UV, etc)? Thanks for any help, Dick

Try BoatUS online store

I bought light(nearly white) goes on under the mast and covers well for storage. I wouldn't use for travel. Good covering for winter. They had wide range of covers. It was one size fits most in this range type sizing. I was amazed how well it takes care of my boat.

I get the heavy duty silver tarp from Northern Tools. The 16' X 20' works well. It covers the entire boat and almost all of the mast(down on the trailer of course). It's about $25 - $30 and makes a good winter cover, for South Carolina weather anyway.

Ameriseam does make a cover for the 170 as I had placed one on for a customer. Make sure to get the grey and it has vents. Order this through the HOW chandlrey. Stay away from the dark colors as the boat will not take the heat very well and that is why the vents were added to the cover I got. Crazy dave Condon
