How accurate are "cove stripes", as far as pinning down the make of a boat? I found and bought a 37' Grampian (or so I was told), a "Walthrop" model, which was supposed to have been built in 1964. USCG registration papers from the previous owner give only the tonnage and year. I have tried to research this model, and along with no one having heard of one, I've been told that Grampian never made a 37' boat. I was surfing through G.O.B.'s site, and saw their "Cove Stripe" section. The stripe for Grampian didn't look like mine, so I scrolled down until I reachd "S". The bow and stern (head and tail?) of the stripe on a "Swan" are identical to mine, but searching the web tells me that Swans weren't made before '66. Does anyone know how to trace this boat? I have the hull number (295228), but won't researching that just pull up the same USCG information? My girlfriend can do wonders with this computer, but I'm useless, so I don't know how to spin the photo 90 degrees. This, and the one to follow, are the best shots that I have right now of the cove stripe on the bow and stern.
