Might Want to Check A Local "Boneyard".

Might want to consider Corian type plastics. Lots of color and patterns. Easy to keep clean, resists abrasion, and if it does happen to stain, can be sanded down. For smaller pieces needed on a boat, I got some at a fabrication contractor local to my area. This firm had quite a selection of odds-n-ends left over from kitchen remodels and commercial work. They called their left-over section the "boneyard". The local firm didn't just pop up out of the yellow pages and they normally didn't go out of their way to interface with the retail public. A kitchen remodel store gave me the lead to them. This material is cutable with an electric hand held scroll jig saw using a fine tooth blade.

Another Consideration for Boneyard Selection

Further to my previous post, I found that my first choice of color/pattern which looked just right at the store didn’t quite do it when I got the piece to the boat. Seemingly subtle variation of color/shade made a huge difference. So (for whatever material you decide to use) be sure to ask for a return/exchange option. If you can remove from your boat a piece of interior fiberglass or some other “anchor” color to bring with you, you will have a better chance of getting the right match on the first round.
