Costs of owning a Vega in the United Kingdom

Hi

I'm going to be moving to the UK early next year and intend to buy an
Albin Vega. I'm busy trying to work out the costs involved.

Hoping to be based in Glasgow again so any figures relating to the
West Coast of Scotland would be particularly helpful.
I've seen a gallery of the Scottish Vega gathering from last year but
have no idea how to contact those involved so hopefully this will
work.

Initial investigations into marinas around Glasgow have me seriously
amazed. Kip marina clocks in at around 2500 pounds for the year for a
pontoon berth. Although it seems that this is a quite an upmarket
marina.

Being based in Cape Town and not able to do the full investigation
myself, I'm hoping that some UK based forum members can help me out
with approximate costings for mooring and insurance fees for an Albin
Vega.

Also any tips on mooring locations on the West Coast of Scotland
would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Guy

Hi Guy

My name is STeve Birch and I am the Technical guy for the Vegas in the UK (VAGB). Also handle 99% of the Brokerage for Vegas so keep in touch and I will see if I can find you a Vega. Marina berths in teh UK are very, very, very expensive and usually range between £1500 - £3000 per year. West Coast and the Clyde is on the more expensive side. Swinging moorings are a lot cheaper and usually cost in the region of £300 - £600 per annum.

Insurance for a Vega in teh UK is about £150 - £200 per annum. Maintenance about £200 - £500 per annum.

Hope this helps. I am off to the Vega IFR tomorrow for three weeks in Sweden but hopefully I will be able to check my email most days.

Kind Regards Steve Birch Vega "Southern Comfort" V1703
