purchased a hunter 30 1979 vintage with a 3 blade 14 / 12 prop.Have been told that a 14 in prop is too large for this boat.engine is 12 hp yanmar. Is there a website that tells you the proper size prop to use?
If your prop is too big then your engine will not reach max RPMs. If it does, then it's not too big. The question I have is, how do you know if it's too small or not enough pitch
Hi Charles,On my '79 Hunter 30 with the Yanmar YSM 12 (like yours) there's an 11" diameter 2-blade prop that came from Hunter that way. I can't remember the pitch right now, but I think it's 13". That information used to be posted on the specifications page of this site for our model boat, but it got lost in the upgrade I guess. If you're like me, I don't have a tach to know if I'm reaching max RPM's or not.
