I purchased my boat a couple years ago which I thought was an 1976 Oday 27. Thinking of moving the boat to a closer marina which is very draft restricted. My boat definitely has a centerboard but unable to locate any info on an Oday 27 from that year with a centerboard. Supposedly the 272s were manufactured 10 years later with the centerboard feature. What I really need to know is how much water does the boat draw. What I would like to know is what model do I own? Thanks for any help Wayne

25 or 28?
Both the 25 and the 28 were available with the shoal keel/centerboard configuration. They would be easy to tell apart since the 25 has a transom hung rudder and the 28 has a spade rudder not visible above the waterline. However, the data I was looking at states that the first year of production for the 28 was 1978. Do you have a photo you could post? Someone is certain to recognize which model it is from that.

Dave K. Sorry, should have included the rudder, is a transom hung rudder. I know because I had to replace the pins after a storm broke it loose. I don't center up my rudder at the dock anymore, potential for too much pressure on it. Live and learn. Thanks again for the good poop! I will be checking documentation to see if I have a 25. I don't care how long it is, really like this boat. Wayne

If you look at the boat ID number on the transom and go to the code, which of course is buried somewhere in MY archives, it will tell you your year, your model and the number of the hull. The info on this site shows the 27 as being a fixed keelwith 4' draft, but I wouldn't count on ALL the 27s being that way. As was mentioned, the 28 came fixed keel, center board, saildrive or diesel, split backstay, normal backstay, wheel, tiller, etc. If you can't find the key, post your data and someone will come up with what you have.
