Core Area Around/Under Mast H23 1987

After satrting to reseal some fittings up by the mast, I removed a pulley assy. and had water dripping from the holes after I removed the four bolts. So now I am on a mission to dry it out and do the epoxy fix. No problems there.

I started to drill a hole (3/16) very close to the mast. Once I got through the fibergals, I hit an aluminum plate and immediatley stopped.

Can anyone tell me what is under the mast base?

Got a pic? I'm interested as well. You could remove all the fiberglass and find out so the rest of us know

Dave, hope you were able to find out what it was. Did you just drill through it?
