A freind of mine just returned from the Miami Boat Show with information on the Coolerator Refrigeration system from Askeland, Inc. I ran a 5-year archive search and only found one post saying their system did not work at all. From their brochure its almost sounds to good to be true and you know what "they" say about that. I cannot believe that their system would be a scam. Any expereince - positive or negitive would be appreciated.

What makes it sound so good?

Mark, What makes this system sound so good? Low amps, retrofit for boats w/o refer? Just curious. Dan B

Mark: These units only lower the temp by about 34 (now sure of the exact amount) degrees below the ambient air temp. If your air temp is 80, you ice box would be lowered to about 45. This is probably OKAY if you still plan to get ice each time, but it is NOT going to keep your beer ICEY COLD. They also consume about 5amps while running (and they run a lot). If you want to try something like this out, buy one of the units that plug into a cig. ligther. It will probably work much better, because the boxes are air tight and well insulated. Save your money and get a real refrigeration unit. You will be much happier in the long run (more money, but less power consumption).
