Cooler Location

Back in January on this list there was a discussion about Cooler Location. There it was suggested to keep the cooler under the tiller. Now that I have my C22, it seems there's got to be a better way. The >85 models have a nice place to stow the cooler where the step is located in my 84. I was thinking of using the starboard lazarette. Although I haven't measured yet, I think the Coleman 16 Qt will fit in there (maybe even 2). Has any one tried using the lazarette for their cooler? Someone else suggested removing the galley (i don't really use it any way) and putting the cooler there. But my current cooler won't fit there, although i'm sure I could find one that does. I was even thinking of the Igloo Plentikool Thermoelectric cooler (igloo.com) would fit nicely in that space. Any one know how much battery drain those things cause? Thanks

hello rod, if you remove the galley, remember, a great many people on this site want to buy it john

After measuring the space, it appears that the Igloo Marine 25 will fit nicely into the starboard lazarett. I'm going to measure again before I make the purchse, but I was really hoping to find another solution.

On my C22 I sit my Igloo 32 qt on the starboard settee where the galley would sit for use. It sits right on top of the cushion and is held in place by a long bungee cord that hooks over the lip on the side shelf runs through the cooler handles and hooks to the shelf lip on the other end of the cooler. It's never come loose even at a 20 degree port heel ot in rough water, and you can get to the contents without moving it.
