I have recently changed the coolant in my 26 hp Universal/Westerbeek engine with a coolant designated for deisel engines. I suspect that the coolant type used should be the precise one recommended by Universal. Where I live in Australia we do not need anti freeze. Any comments would be welcome.
By the way, I am a new member to this forum but have enjoyed reading the various threads since buying my 310 in March...a goal I have nurtured for at least 10 years.:)

You still need engine coolant for corrosion protection, and the same 50% concentration is required. No changes. Climate is not a factor.

(A part of my day job is deveoping coolant formulations--I have a new one in development right now.)

Agree with ‘thinwater’. My mechanic recommends/uses “Valvoline Green, G – 05”. I have used it now for over 5 years. Cost is reasonable. But you should not, I believe, mix your current coolant with a different product.
