When I put my boat up for winter storage this year I had the yard decommission the engine etc. Part of this was to do a coolant analysis. Now,, I had them do this last winter and they recommended changing the coolant because it could not protect to a cold enough temperature up here in Maine so they did. Now this year they are saying the coolant can protect down to -45; but also that there are abnormal solids present. There is a burnt odor, excessive foam and no oil. My questions is how can this be? The engine is a nearly new Universal diesel in use just 2 seasons. I never got a high temp alarm and always (honestly) checked to make sure water was coming out in the exhaust. Between their last change and this sample the engine was used at most 15 hours. Is this a sign of a problem, is this normal, can this be right? Someone enlighten me, please.
