Will my 1.34 hour, 8.64GB MPEG-4 Spirit Bear Cruise DVD fit? Well worth watching.

Sure. Just load it in 20mb chunks. :)

Maybe now we can get how-to vids from Mainsail. Also videos bring more reality to issues and resolutions. And sound adds to the ability to diagnose.

A larger server would help.

Hmm, I find reading so much more helpful than video.

The few things the internet is horrible at is smells, sounds and electrical photographs without wiring diagrams. :)

Videos are an enhancement, not a replacement.
Yet it's true, pouring over details in literature is definitely more engaging. Videos would help most in the poster's attempt to explain his problem, including the sounds and motion that the offending equipment is making. So many times, responders ask for pictures. Now there can also be videos.
And, I find hands-on videos very instructive, just in the ability to watch the sequence of hand motion and part manipulation during a repair or maintainence that I was previously confused about.
It's always easier if you watch another do it first.

Compare the literature in describing how to splice three strand rope to an instructive video. As the old adage goes, "a picture is worth a thousand words".

Any boat can hit hull speed on a beam reach in double digit breeze. It's absolutely no indication of a 'fast' boat. Time to get over that one. It's the one place it's supposed to happen.
I skipped over this at first, assuming it was an error post, intended for a different thread. Then it dawned on me that you're commenting on one of my profile videos, and wanting to be....

It was not my intention to get back into the PHRF speed fast slow whatever argument.
Regardless of attack angle/point of sail, the boat sails well. And fast. In her class.
If you think 7 knots, half a knot over hull speed, in 11 knots wind, is not "fast", well I don't know what to say.
She beats virtually every boat encountered, in similar class, at every point if sail that she's capable of, in all wind speeds, with exceptional light wind performance.

Which, combined with other requirements stated in the long ago post to which you refer, she is exactly what I was looking for.

The boat is fast. Fast fast fast fast fast. - for re-use regarding all of your future argument posts.

Except for Ted (Calif Ted) in his late-model souped-up Catalina 320 with its giant rig. He inched past me in a 13 knot breeze on a close reach, regardless of my adjusting, and putting as much weight as possible on the windward rail. Actually the weight was me, while the AP steered, because I couldn't catch him and I eventually found comfort in taunting him from the toe rail, hoping in some way to slow that thing down.

Am I the only one here who has noticed what this thread is missing?

Videos post to your media (click on the Media tab and upload it there) which is what we used to call an "Album." It will be attached to your profile. You still can't upload it to a forum post, unfortunately.

Skipper, what are you using to record your videos? I wonder if a small piece of foam, like the type used on microphones, wouldn't help to keep the wind noise down.

Just an iphone. Easy to use and upload.
I thought we loved wind noise
:-D

I wonder if there is anything made for that. Like a sock that goes over the top (bottom?)of the phone.

Doesn't have to be anything special. Small piece of foam should work as long as it is not solid foam. Might be worth a try. Wind noise is fine, sometimes, but can be very distracting.

Update... A large piece of sponge attached to the microphone of the iPhone should help reduce the wind noise. Yes, some wind noise is OK but when that is all one hears and not the waves lapping along side the boat, one wonders. LOL

Here is a link to a wind noise fix.
