Yesterday the weather was less than perfect here. I spent part of my day working on new bug screens for my 1975 h25, and part of my day with a handfull of blocks and ropes in my living room trying different ways to rig my boom vang (Sail Mag April 2004 & related link below)using mops and brooms with the sofa as the hull. I was less than satisfied by my efforts on the vang project. Today as I sit and listen to the 9/11 hearings, I have been sketching the vang lay out on graph paper. Neither of these methods are working great (although both were kind of fun). My thought is to buy a model sailboat with the approximate dimensions (scaled of course) and change it to very closely approximate the dimensions and rigging of my boat. I could then try new rigging options quickly and easily while I spend time trying to stay current with news, listening to music, or maybe best of all, arguing sailing over cold beers with my sailing buddies. Is any one doing this? Why not, or if your are, how is it working? Any opinions on boom vang option? The two that I'm looking at both seem like an improvement over centerline boomvangs.

Build a model for rigging?

Wow, I wish I had as much free time as you do.
