I am trying to replace the cooktop/stove that came in my O'Day 28. It's a 2 burner, alcohol fueled Olympus (I think that's the correct brand. I'm just starting this project; Any ideas?

why stay with alcohol?

J.A.: I too have a two burner alcohol stove in my O'day 28. I think the brand I have is a "Princess" or some such brand. Any way it's a pressurized stove and it works pretty well when I use it which is very seldom. That said I think that if I were to replace it I would go to the trouble of installing a gas stove and hang the bottle on the stern pulpit for safety. I am told that putting a gas system on the boat is fairly complex but doable by an average owner. Lastly, I took my stove off the boat a year or two ago and cleaned, inspected and tested it for correct operation OUTSIDE the boat. Fire is nothing to fool with in any form on a boat. Good luck, Mike, S/B Pitterpat, Lake Huron

Origo 2 Burner

I suggest an Origo 2 burner. These are non-presuurized so they are so simple nothing can go wrong with them. Only complaint is alcohol is not as hot as gas for cooking. I had one for about 6 years and was very pleased with it. Dave
