Irwin 37' CC Ketch Texas
I recently purchased a 1977 Irwin 37' CC Ketch with shoal draft. I am considering adding a centerboard box, centerboard and lifting mechanism. I have read that the centerboard box does not need to come up any higher than the floor. Is there anyone with an Irwin centerboard-keel which could supply pictures of its configuration? Any other comments, suggestions, or information regarding the conversion are also welcome. Michael

It is best if the center board trunk

comes up above the waterline.

I have one

I assume your boat has a hole in it for the trunk and board, but that those two items are missing. There was a model like yours in the yard, and the outside bottom of the keel indicated no hole at all. If so, then this would make adding a centerboard trunk a real job. One I would pass on. But, if you are determined to go for it, I will get some measurements and pics.

I would like to see your centerboard

Thanks Tom. I would like to see the pictures. I have not made a decision as yet. How does your boat sail? Does it point better than the full keel versions?
