Has anyone in the 26' group converted their fresh water system to a pressure system. Did you convert both sinks? Or just the galley? My wife is getting real tired of pumping. Which pump did you buy? Which type of faucet did you get? What about using the existing faucet and removing the diaphragm and adding a push button switch to activate? Jim SV Java

I installed a pressurized water system last winter on our 1998 H260. Parts used were as follows: 1.6 gpm Shur-Flo Pump 20 psi accumulator Tank Shur-flo Electric Faucet I mounted the pump and acc tank on a vertical bulkhead inside the front freshwater tank compartment and replaced all hoses with the clear braided type. The installation was very simple. The tank was an important addition as it reduces pump cycling. The Shur-flo faucets look nice but we have had problems with leaks. To my knowledge the faucets are not servicable. I had West Marine replace one of them 6 months ago... At present the installation is galley only and that is quite sufficient for our needs. What I did was to install an inline on demand pump in both the galley and the head sinks. Very easy to do, disconnect the line to the bottom of the faucet and the pump (I believe it is a jabsco pump $25) screws right in to that fitting. Mount the pump with the bracket that comes with it then run a piece of that clear/braided hose between the pump outlet and the faucet with a couple hose clamps. I installed a simple toggle switch next to where the dishes are stored. Simply flip the switch when you need to use more than a little water. You can even still use the pump if you want. Works great. Tom M.

Don't get rid of the pump.
Jim: A pressurized system is great for consuming large amounts of water quickly. It is very easy to let the faucet just run. My suggestion is to have both, a pump system and a pressurized system.

Question for Tom
Tom, If you install the small Jabsco pump just below the pump faucet, do you have to have the pump handle in a certain position before you can use the electric pump? Secondly, I assume that you can add the electric pump to the galley sink, and keep the sink in the head as a manual pump faucet. Is this correct? Lastly, did you need to use any check valves in the lines to make this work?

Keeping the pump primed
Tom, I also have tried the solution you indicate and it works OK as long as the pump keeps it's prime but I'm having some trouble keeping it primed when the tanks level comes down and I spend some time sailing. I am also curious if you used a check valve. I installed the 12V pump when the kitchen pump needed to be replaced, seems designed to fail. I wonder if getting a new hand pump would make it easier to prime the 12V when it loses prime. If you are having success with both then I could still get water if the battery was low too. Move the pump
I'm set up much like Tom M, but the pump is not attached to the bottom of the manual pump. I put it down low where it will always stay wet, keeping it primed. Tom T
