Converting Mainsheet Rigging on Daysailer I

I have a daysailer I model built in 67', can't recall the hull number. I would like to change the main sheet rigging so that it no longer travels from the end of the boom (triangular rigging) to the swing keel enclosure to a mainsheet tackle that runs directly from the swing keel compartment to the boom. Much like how the Daysailer II rigging was run. The original rigging gets snagged on anything and everything, and is even worse when the motor is installed. Has anyone done this sort of change? Does it require the keel compartment need to be tied into the seats for stability (this could be easy if I install a mainsheet traveler as well). Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks all and Happy Sailing

tied to the seat

my daysailor has the lever keel, and there are boards connecting the keel trunk to the seats to keep trunk stiff. don't know about the other question, but what was done, should be able to do again, but do put in the braces.

Seat Boards

Thanks for the reply. I do have the seat to swing keel boards but they are approx 2 feet from where the mainsheet is attached. I was concerned this might not be enough when trying to pull in the mainsail coming to weather in heavy air. Thanks

on DS II

My DS II had the cb rigging, which I recently changed to a traveler. It was stiff enough origially (no movement), and is likely stiffer now, with the traveler. The original mainsheet block was exactly where the traveler crosses the cb trunk, if you are needing a reference for placement.
