I am converting my 1983 25' O'Day from its 6.9HP Yanmar to a Yamaha 9.9HP (high Thrust) OB. It has a 25" shaft length. I would like to mount the bracket myself. 1. Are there official specs for the placement of the bracket and/or the final position of the motor or prop relative to the water line? 2. If no official specs, can anyone give me the specs from their own boat? 3. Any other hints you can give. Thanks, cliff

The only thing..

I can say now, is offset the outboard far enough so that it will not hit the rudder even if the rudder and the outboard are pointing towards each other. That way, no chipped gelcoat on the rudder and no dinged propeller blade. Often times the motor mount maker has directions that can assist you as to where and how to place the motor mount. Happy planning. Tom
