Controling Mast Height

The perennial Hunter topic – mast height. I have an idea to control it!
Just sold our 1987 Hunter 40 with its 58 foot mast and have ordered a new Marlow-Hunter 40.
Also just cruised down the ICW from Jacksonville to Key Biscayne in a Hunter 49 with a 63+ foot mast. A lot of very careful passages under the nominally 65-foot fixed bridges, always bending one antenna and frequently bending both,
Well here’s my question. Would it be reasonable to mount a Davis Windex and a Raymarine ST60+ wind sensor on arms attached to the side of the mast so neither the Windex or ST60+ sensor were no higher than the anchor light? Have any of you done it?
For reference, here’s what the top of the mast on our 1987 h40 looked like.

I would think you would want it in front of the mast, but you are still blocking some wind no matter what... With the fractional rig, building out a bracket right above the headstay would work out just fine and be well below the mast top...
