Hi Frank, is the cord that connected the counter...

weight to the table still accessible? If so, perhaps squirting some Liquid Wrench down the compression post will loosen the weight? Also, while someone pulls on the cord tap on the post around where the weight rests might work it loose.

Worst case would be to remove the compression post to gain access to the counter weight. If I think of more options I'll let you know.

cord is still attached

Thank you Terry,

The cord is still on so I can try this manner. At first I tryed it with liqued wrench. That didn't do anything.
I assume that a rubber hammer is the bst way to losen it while someone is pulling the cord.

To remove the compression post looks a no go to me because my mast has to come of first I would think.

I try the hammer method and let you know if it did the job. At first I have to ask my brother to assist.

Thank you again for your support.

Hi Frank, you are welcome. I'd like to hear back...

as to whether these tips worked. Also, I would contact Hunter Marine Customer Service and ask them how to remove the compression post without dropping the mast, if it gets to that point. I would think you could place a temporary support post jacked into place to support the mast and coach roof while the compression post is removed.

Good idea Monty

I think that is also a possibility. Maybe the water (if there is water) causes a vacuum. It's worth to investigate! Maybe with use of the rubber hammer to losen the weight.

Thank you again for sharing your experience

Terry, Nice idea! When everything fails I can use your idea very well.

Hi Frank, as Monty pointed out, if you have water on the...

inside of your compression post, that needs to be addressed, too. That may be the reason why the counter weight is frozen.

See the link for what I did to solve our coach roof leak, but the water was coming down the outside of the post, not the inside.
