I have two sump boxes that I was given. One that will fit in my bilge and one that won't fit in the bilge. One sump box, the one that fits, doesn't have the pump in it and I can't figure out what type of pump was in the box. The other box that has a pump has a totally different type of pump and the float switch isn't working.

I can't put the working pump in the other sump box. I can't figure out which pump fits in the type of box that fits in my bilge.

Maybe I will just take the box with me to West marine and try to figure this out. The other thing is that I need to find a tiny float switch or an automatic pump.

The dimension of the box that fits is 8" long by 5"t wide by 4" high.

Any suggestions for me? I can't seem to find this type of box anywhere to get a look at who might make it.

If you go back to your original post on this subject

you'll recall my description of our system and the diaphragm pump as well as Peggie's idea about switching the pump if it didn't have the float switch working. Just because the float switch isn't working doesn't mean you can't wire a toggle switch into it and control the pump from the show position.

Either wire a switch to a cheap sump pump and put that new pump in the box that fits, or get an external diaphragm pump (but they are expensive).

In any event you'll eventually find you'll like the manual switch anyway. If the float goes, you're SOL on a shower, where if you have a manual switch, there's less to go wrong.

Shower sump

I have a small shower sump, under the shower pan. It has a 360 gph or so pump, but no float switch. It is on a seperate breaker, with a toggle switch mounted under the cabinet. Works just fine, and keeps up with the shower ouptut as well. Just turn it on when you prepare to take a shower, turn it off when finished. The diaphram pumps will get a little more water out of it, but they are expensive and they are noisy.
