You need to call

We obught our 1973 Catalina out of state through a broker. He told us that it was owned by an older man who had died. The boat was exceptionally clean and the price was decent.About two years after we had it I received a phone call.It was the previous owner's son.He asked where I bought it and how much I paid for it.The broker never paid the dead man's family after he sold it.So now I have a stolen out of state boat. The son was great to deal with and the broker was held accountable. The family was very happy to know where the boat went. When I sold it the new owners asked if I would go out with them the first time next spring.I would love to.

do it and let us all know

Most sailors are cool and just neat folks. It is a chance to make anew friend. I called the owner of my last boat a couple of times and he was forthcoming with information. I have sold two boats now and look forward to talking with both parties.

Make the call....

I bought a P36-2 in November from a broker and never spoke with the owner, however I am getting ready to make the call. What is the downside; he hangs up and the upside is I get some questions answered.... To me a no brainer and worth the call Greg
