removehtml]Hello fellow sailors. I am considering putting a 2 blade gori folding prop, 16.5 X 13 x2 on my 06 Hunter 33. Anyone have experience with this setup? Running a fixed 3 blade now that came with the boat. MikeError: Error: expected [/URL], but found [/removehtml] instead[/removehtml]

Like gori

You'll find all sorts of opinions about folding and feathering props; in particular, about the various manufacturers. Some are more vehement than other. For instance, since the folding props have moving parts, you must pay incredible attention to installation; one loose set screw could doom you (and has for some). For me, Gori was less expensive; I definitely gained a half-knot over my prior 2 blade fixed, which for my 30 footer was important. I also lost a half-knot when steaming, but accepted that as the price you pay. Supposedly less prop walk, so says the literature, but can't confirm nor deny. Other manufacturers (and forum participants) might see little to no loss of power under steam; certainly, for the cost of some of the more sophisticated folding props, I'd expect more return for my investment. But that's why I liked the Gori - lower cost and exactly the return (a little extra speed) I was looking for.

I have a Martec 2-blade geared folder and its

sailing performance is great. Motoring is so-so but we don't do a lot of that ;-) It is also hidden in the graph at the bottom. The Gori will do well if that is your choice but be mindfull of the value of the US $. Its decline has caused a recent price increase of $100-200.

New prop for Hunter 33

What is the cost of the Variprop 2 blade versus Gori 2 blade?

Same Prop, Same boat...

I had the same Gori prop on my 326, which is prety mcuh the same boat. I noticed no difference in motoring top speed, and had full power in reverse. The big diffence was in low wind and acceleration coming out of a tack. I would recommend the Gori, less drag than a feathering, and very acceptable power performance. Steve
